Eutalia Srl and the Italian Carabinieri Corps (leading partner) together with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia and the National Committee for Countering Violent Extremism and Countering Terrorism (NCCVECT) are partners in the the Twinning project “Strengthening the prevention/counter violent extremism and counterterrorism coordination capacities“.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the national Authorities for border control, management of migration flows, fight against terrorism and organized crime.
The specific objective of the project is to improve the technical and administrative capacities to detect, investigate and prevent terrorism.
The project is divided in two components:
- the first one is focused on strengthening institutional capacities of the NCCVECT and the Agency for National Security as well as any other relevant national security agencies to efficiently and effectively ensure inter-agency coordination aimed at preventing and addressing violent extremism and radicalization leading to terrorism
- the second component aimed at strengthening the operational capacities of the Public Security Bureau (with a particular emphasis on the newly established Sector for fight against terrorism, violent extremism and radicalization within the Department for suppression of organized and serious crime), to better prevent, protect, pursue and respond to challenges related to countering violent extremism and countering terrorism, in line with the existing national strategies.
A pool of experts from the Special Operational Department (ROS) and other highly specialized units from the Italian Carabinieri Corps will participate in the implementation of the project activities and will share Italian knowhow and best practices.
The project is financed by the EU with a budget of € 1.000.000 and is implemented within 21 months by the Italian Carabinieri Corps.
The Italian partnership is composed by the Carabinieri Corps (leading partner), responsible for the operational and technical implementation of the project and Eutalia Srl (Mandated Body), responsible for the administrative, contractual and logistics management of the initiative.
